Advertising on Deed & Dock

What we sell. Sponsored Pro listings for one region and one category, for 12 months, at a flat $149. Listings are paid advertising. We don't recommend, rank, endorse or check any advertiser.

Who can list. Pennsylvania real estate licensees (agents and brokers), home inspectors, on-lot septic inspectors and water/well testing labs. We don't list contractors, dock builders, lake services, attorneys, lenders, insurers or anyone else.

The template. Every listing uses the same layout: name, business, category, region, phone, an optional website and a 160-character blurb. No photos, logos, addresses, prices, property listings, MLS references, testimonials, ratings or badges.

Fair housing. The federal Fair Housing Act makes it unlawful to make, print or publish any notice, statement or advertisement about the sale or rental of a dwelling that indicates a preference, limitation or discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin.1 HUD's rule applies the same ban to written and oral notices and statements and lists examples, such as words or phrases that convey that dwellings are or are not available to a particular group.2 We won't publish copy that indicates any such preference or limitation, and our automatic review rejects common examples.

Pennsylvania licensees. Pennsylvania requires an advertisement by an associate broker or salesperson to contain the business name and telephone number of the employing broker, and the names and telephone numbers must be of equal size.3 Agent listings here must include the employing broker's name and office phone, and we show them in the same type style and size as the agent's own. Anyone can check a Pennsylvania license on PALS.4 License numbers start with letters such as RS (salesperson), AB (associate broker), RB (broker or brokerage) or RM (broker, multi-license).5

Flat fee, not a referral fee. The $149 is for advertising space for 12 months. It is not tied to any referral, transaction or closing, and we receive nothing else from advertisers. Federal real estate settlement rules allow payment for goods or facilities actually furnished or services actually performed.6

Caps and rotation. Each region and category has at most 3 live listings. Order rotates daily and is never based on price or sign-up date.

Reports. Anyone can report a listing. Three reports from different people within 30 days hide it automatically and pause its paid time; the advertiser gets an edit link, and a corrected listing that passes review is restored with its remaining time.

Expiry and renewal. Listings run 365 days. We send renewal reminders 30 days and 7 days before the end and on the last day. Expired listings are hidden, not deleted, for a year, so renewing restores them.

Refunds and reversals. If a payment is refunded or reversed through PayPal, the listing is hidden automatically. Two reversals block the email from buying listings.

Banner ad. Separately from the Pro listings, the public pages show one labeled banner from AdEngine (adengine.us), the small ad network run by WeldonPC, the company behind this site; for now it shows WeldonPC's own services. Pro listing fees do not buy banner space. How the banner works and what it receives: Privacy.

Self-reported credentials. Every credential shown is the advertiser's own statement and carries the line 'Self-reported. Not verified by Deed & Dock.'
